Mixed trends for EOFY prime cattle sale

It was a very mixed market today with some categories dearer, and others not, in the 1528 head yarding. The National Livestock Reporting Service (NLRS) quoted best results for the “better quality” yearling steers and heifers, light steers to background, heavy feeder steers and cows. A draft of 90 Angus feeder steers off Narrabri sold to 400c/kg for RWL. Heaviest over the scales was a pen of ‘monstrous’ Angus x bullocks sold by DC. The two biggest bullocks smashed 1000kg, another 3 averaged 923kg and the balance averaged 724kg. The best of the black heifers sold to 340c/kg and a pen of Charolais x heifers sold to 335c/kg.
