Big gains plus big weights equals big bucks

Monday 22nd July

Big gains and plenty of weight meant big returns in Tamworth today with the heaviest steers making $2715, the heaviest heifers $2300 and the best cows making $2330.  There’s no stopping the cow market, with prices increasing again this week to a top of 323c/kg for Angus cows sold by Elders. The increases saw numerous vendors receive well above $2000/head with the NLRS saying the cow market reached a ‘new level”.  The NLRS also quoted “significant improvements” for well finished processor cattle going to the trade and well finished heavy weight steers. Well finished, grown heifers were up to 20c/kg better than last week and restocker and feeder heifers also improved.

Angus steers sold by McCulloch Agencies on account Narran Lake Pastoral Co made 376c/kg and averaged 511kg/$1924
