Sniff of rain sees market on the move
A sniff of rain, promising season and “attractive forward contracts” saw the market on the move in Tamworth today with just under 2000 store cattle on offer. There was solid competition, including online from Stocklive, with agents and the National Livestock Reporting Service quoting mainly dearer trends for the best steers and heifers. Top prices were also well up for cows/heifers & calves and PTIC. Steers sold to $1490 for Angus steers off Boggabilla that ‘haven’t seen a bad day”. Heifers sold to $1660 for a small pen of yearling heifers and Limo x heifers straight off their mothers made $1140. Angus cows and calves sold to $2520 and PTIC sold to $2100.
John Lee, pictured with agent Stuart Bell, Pitt Sons, sold his Angus x Black Limo weaners. The steers sold to $1250 and the heifers (pictured) sold to $960
