Cow prices rise further despite early indications

Despite early indications that the cow market may have fallen, by the end of the sale it was up to 9c/kg dearer than last week with the best Angus cows to process selling to 332c/kg and a top price of $2652 for a single Simmental cow. Lightweight steers sold to 398c/kg and the best of the heifers made the same money with the NLRS quoting best results for the lightweight steers and medium to heavy heifers, up 8-18c/kg. More than half of the yarding was cows and heifers following some good rain over the weekend.
